Gerard Ostheimer
Biography
Gerard Ostheimer (PhD) joined the Sustainable Energy For All Initiative in 2013 and serves as the Global Lead for the initiative’s Sustainable Bioenergy High Impact Opportunity. Working with diverse partners he promotes the development and deployment of sustainable bioenergy solutions to help achieve Sustainable Energy For All Initiative’s goals of increasing energy access and doubling the use of renewable energy. Prior to this, from 2010 Gerard worked as a science advisor to the US Department of Agriculture where he promote the sustainable production and use of bioenergy for sustainable development. In this role he connected U.S. government technical expertise on sustainable bioenergy to ongoing diplomatic efforts related to sustainable development and served as the U.S. Government’s technical lead to the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP). He obtained his PhD in Molecular Biology from the University or Oregon in 2003.
